PumpForPeace Pretoria with Karen Zoid, The Parlotones and more

Pump4Peace is a disruptive concept, introducing Enduro and a full on festival of South Africas greatest music talent. In racing season Claudio gives  us a sneak preview of the epic downhill courses that Greg Minnaar rips up in the World Cups, now you can meet him and share the enduro trail at the sick Wolwespruit in Pretoria.

🚴🎸 WHEN MUSIC AND SPORT COME TOGETHER FOR CHARITY 🎸🚴

After a rocking launch in Lesotho, global sports & music upliftment initiative#pumpforpeace is hitting South Africa with a series of exciting outdoor benefit concerts, starting with Pretoria.

Headlined by iconic acts Karen Zoid and The Parlotones, 12 August at Wolwespruit MTB and Trail Park in Erasmuskloof will also feature Desmond & the Tutus, Tidal Waves, Black Cat Bones (Deboned) and The Sweet Resistance on the line-up.

In the spirit of the initiative – celebrating music as well as an active lifestyle – the Pretoria #pumpforpeace event will kick off with a MTB enduro race at 8am. World-renowned downhill rider Claudio Caluori will be racing on the day and riders can test their grit in the race against his time. Claudio is known for his infamous Red Bull Bike / GoPro course previews and is also the founder of #pumpforpeace

The competitiveness and technical trail riding of Enduro will be put on the back seat for this charity race with the focus on having fun and introducing new riders to the sport. We will however have some special surprises for those who feel up to the task of making a gap jump or a rocky drop. The race will feature 3 to 5 timed sections, each being 1.5 to 2.5km in length. After completion of each timed section, the rider will cycle to the start of the next timed section. Riders are only timed on downhill sections and the atmosphere is relaxed with no rush – except when you gun it downhill! Strava will be used to time the race – this is a free timing system which means more funds can go to charity – yeah! We encourage all MTB riders, hardcore downhill riders and especially those looking to try something new to enter and experience the thrills of this exciting and growing discipline.

Early Bird tickets SOLD OUT. General access tickets are R180 and includes access to view the Enduro race as well as the concert. Kids under the age of 12 is R100, and kids under 4 get in for free. Participation in the enduro race is set at R300 per ticket, which will include access to the music concert.

For those looking for an exclusive experience, VIP tickets at R280 gives you access to a separate VIP bar area with shaded seating, convenient parking inside the venue perimeter and premium bathroom facilities. Enduro race participants can purchase all inclusive VIP tickets at R400.

All proceeds will support the revival of music and sport initiatives and charities in disadvantaged communities as well as the construction of new pump tracks, with further shows ready to roll out in Joburg, Cape Town, and Durban in 2017/2018.

Pump tracks, for those who haven’t been completely hooked yet, are all the rage for cyclists of all ages. They’re the wildly undulating, looping, exhilarating tracks that have become the social hubs where age, race, gender, and social barriers dissolve, and talent blooms. Through #pumpforpeace Caluori has united riders and musicians to give back to developing communities around the world in a bid to create healthier people with healthier attitudes and to promote tolerance and peace.
