Test Your Absa Cape Epic Knowledge

Fancy yourself an armchair expert of everything Absa Cape Epic?
If so you need to test your knowledge in the Epic Fantasy League, powered by Bike Hub. To enter all you need to do is create a free account and make your selections for the overall and stage victories in each category. It sounds easy but once you start agonising over the selections it soon becomes apparent that it really is not.
Visit www.epicfantasyleague.co.za to sign up and start selecting your favourites. Your predictions for the overall titles and the Prologue have to be made by 6am SAST on Sunday, 17 March 2019. Thereafter your selections have to be made by 6am on the morning of each stage. If you are the forgetful type you can select all eight stages upfront and then update your daily picks before each stage gets underway. Most fans have an idea of who will win the UCI men’s and women’s titles. The avid fans have their Absa African Jersey favourites marked out. Only the super fans though know who is likely to challenge for the Exxaro Special Jersey and Virgin Active Mixed categories. While the points are weighted towards the UCI categories it is the others which are sure to decide the Epic Fantasy League’s eventual winner.
Speaking of winners, the player with the most points at the end of the Absa Cape Epic will win a set of ASSOS Leaders Jerseys signed by the 2019 Men’s and Women’s champions. In addition to those unique prizes the winner will also walk away with ASSOS XC bib shorts and a hamper packed with prizes from USN, Devils Peak, Squirt Cycling Products and Oakley. There are also runners up prizes, including the Land Rover Explore outdoor phone; power banks from Amped; and two nights in the lap of luxury, for two people, in selected Tsogo Sun hotels.
The Absa Cape Epic’s official Event Guide, compiled by Mountain Bike Magazine, is your best source of information to make educated selections for your Epic Fantasy League squads. You can purchase a copy from any good South African newsagent or the online version here. Riders will receive a complimentary copy in their registration packs on Saturday, so if you are riding save making your selections until you have read the Event Guide. For those of you wishing to do extra research here is the full list of who to watch in each category. While for extra reading we suggest the Form Check story which was published ten days out from the start of the 2019 Absa Cape Epic.
If you think you have what it takes to beat the experts here is a sneak peek at what a couple of South Africa’s mountain biking journalists think…
