Thaba’Nkwe

habankwe offers 300 hectares of rugged, rocky terrain for both extreme and amateur bikers and hikers. The reserve has a wide variety of wildlife and bird species. Trails are clear and maps are available.

Located only 5kms from Thabazimbi on the R510, this unique mountain biking experience offers 350 hectares of rugged, rocky terrain with mountains and “koppies” and some extreme uphill cycling through the private game reserve. The trail route is 15kms but can be done in various stages or as a circular loop. For long distant rides, cyclists can exit the main Lodge gate from the reserve and enjoy a stretch of tar road for distances up to 50km.

Extreme steep, rocky routes to spectacular view points, are available to extreme experienced off road cyclists. There are also clear trails available for both novices and families with river crossings in wet months and opportunity to see game in natural surroundings. Thaba ‘Nkwe has a wide variety of antelope, wildebeest, zebra and bird species for all nature lovers and there are plenty of shaded areas for stop offs. Extreme overnight bunking is available in the depth of the reserve.
