For the keen cyclist, we have some great mountain bikes for hire and the terrain around Khamkirri is quite varied. This could also appeal to the family on holiday that wants some fun exercise.
At Khamkirri we have 7 kilometers of mountain bike trails on the premises.
For the dedicated mountain biker there is a wide range of paths to suit the level of challenge you require. We can recommend routes for you to follow for full or half day trips. This allows you to use Khamkirri as you base camp and head out on your own!
Route options:
Khamkirri → Riemvasmaak → Augrabies Falls → Khamkirri
This is a round trip of roughly 100km of gravel and tarred roads. Both the hot springs at Riemvasmaak and the grandeur of the Augrabies Falls are great spots to visit and rest a while. This full day trip includes truly spectacular scenery.
Very good fitness levels required!
Khamkirri → Paarden Island → Augrabies Town → Khamkirri
This round trip is approximately 33km of tar and gravel road. Take the gravel road to Paarden Island than follow the small tarred road through the vineyards and back to the town of Augrabies. Cross the river back to Augrabies in ourlittle ferry boat. This route offers a very nice relaxing half-day trip.
Medium fitness levels required.
Khamkirri → Augrabies National Park → Khamkirri
The Park’s entrance gate is 17km’s from Khamkirri. Take the main road from Augrabies to the Augrabies Waterfalls. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Park on their network of well maintained gravel roads. Visit the Main Falls, Moon Rock and Oranjekom. This is recommended as a full day trip.
