Mike Nixon one of the 3 Last Lions and Hannele Steyn the only woman in the world to have completed every Absa Cape Epic since inception are competing in the Absa Cape Epic 2020 as partners for Land Rover. As part of their preparation they will embarking on an epic adventure ride which will create awareness of the Kingsley Holgate Foundation, Blood Lions and Passion4Wholeness’ food donation fund. Sovuzwa Educare Centre in Kayalitsha is the school Passion4Wholeness food foundation supports.

“Our ride is called the Southern Cross ride, because it follows the pattern and direction of the Southern Cross”. Hannele Steyn

“We will start 16 Nov till 30 Nov from Stellenbosch, via Sanbona, Rooiberg, Prince Albert, Willowmore, Steytlerville, Baviaanskloof, Uniondale, Mooiplaas, Welgevonden, Swellendam, Greyton, Stellenbosch. About 100 – 150 km per day, off-road with lots of ascent.” Hennele Steyn

“We invite anyone who wants to join en-route to ride some distance with us. They must just get to that point where they want to join and back or book accommodation if they want to join for more than just a stage” Hannele Steyn
“Blood Lions have been part of my cycling journey since 2016 when I rode the Absa Cape Epic with my best friend Anneke,'” said Steyn.

“For me, FREEDOM is the core of my soul, freedom to choose, freedom to be me, freedom to roam in nature and therefore I believe every living creature should have that same right to be, and that killing without an important reason or for survival or protection, should never happen. I am the only woman in the world that has done all 16 Cape Epics and Mike is one of 3 men and by coincidence, we are called the last lions and now I know it was never a coincidence. I would like to believe I have the heart of a lion.” Hannele Steyn
