Flat-topped mountains with dappled sheer sandstone cliffs covered in scratchy scrub bush with clusters of duiwel thorns that lurk off the beaten track, long grass that caresses your legs and wets your shoes with dew.
Cow pats, bumpy hoof prints and the smell of cattle pervade the air; sandstone fence posts and old broken walls. Barbed wire fences and farm gates, each with an individual hand-wound wire catch to twist and turn like a Rubik cube puzzle. This is the landscape that awaits you in the Koranna Mountains of the Freestate.
The mountain bike trail is clearly marked and forms part of the infamous Koranna Two Mountain MTB Challenge. The Two Mountains route is technical riding with a variety of course conditions that will test your skill and fitness. The whole Korannaberg Conservancy offers sublime mountain biking terrain along jeep track, single-track and dirt road, with no tar in sight.
