Schools receive a welcomed donation this festive season

Three Stellenbosch based schools (Bruckner de Villiers Primary School, Cloetesville Primary School and Dorothea Special School) and one aftercare centre (Aitsa After Care Centre) have welcomed a donation of event clothing and gear compliments of local sports marketing agency, Stillwater Sports.

“We are proud to be able to support these local institutions,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.  “The donation consists of t-shirts, caps, water bottles, shoelaces and drawstring bags.  Each item is still brand new (never been used).  We cannot use the items due to logos or colour schemes that might have changed.  It gives us great pleasure knowing that the event clothing and gear will be put to get use.”

Founded in 2014 the Aitsa After Care Centre offers a safe, stimulating environment for 215 children to give them a chance to develop their full potential.

“The donation of water bottles, cycling tops and other gear will go to the twenty children who form part of our ‘Aitsa Cycling Initiative’. This will definitely lift our game, while our team is sure to look more professional,” says Marietjie Steyn, Aitsa After Care Centre Founder/Director.

The Aitsa After Care Centre is also an official charity of the Origin Of Trails MTB Experience, South Africa’s premier two-day MTB Experience that is hosted in Stellenbosch annually by Stillwater Sports.

Dorothea Special School“Receiving such a donation is heart-warming especially as we don’t expect it at this time of year,” says Anthea Williams, Principal Dorothea Special School.  “The donation just shows us once again that there are people who are sensitive towards people with disabilities.  We teach our learners to appreciate the small things because through the small things greater things are possible.  We are truly thankful to Stillwater Sports for the donation.”

Cloetesville Primary School“We really appreciate being thought of,” says Rodger Cupido, Acting Principal at Cloetesville Primary School.  “We have 702 learners from Grade R to Grade 7.  There are always things that our children need.  The donation will definitely assist them and be put to good use.”

Bruckner De Villiers Primary SchoolAccording to Neil Johnson, Department Head Bruckner De Villiers Primary School, the donation will be shared with those learners who took part in sport activities during 2018.  “The donation will assist with the training and development of these learners.  This is really a welcomed Christmas gift.”
