SRAM to Bicycle Relief a passion for Bicycles

Did you know that SRAM is an acronym comprising the names of its founders, Scott, Ray, and Sam, (where Ray is the middle name of company head Stan Day).

The brothers SRAM started the SRAM Corporation in 1987, designing bicycle component in Chicago, Illinois, United States.  The company started with the first innovation, the Grip Shift, and has been the innovator in the industry since the first out the box break from tradition. The most recent innovation is SRAM’s Eagle group set, other cycling components are, including some internally developed, such as Grip Shift, DoubleTap, dedicated 1×11 mountain and road drivetrains and SRAM Red eTap.

FK Day is a co-founder of the SRAM Corporation, a bicycle component manufacturer based in Chicago. After a trip to Sri Lanka following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami FK and his wife Leah were inspired to help via a bicycle distribution system. They founded World Bicycle Relief. WBR is a comprehensive bicycle distribution program to aid poverty relief in developing countries around the world. To date WBR has donated over 350,000 bicycles.

Buffalo Bicycles are durable, featuring steel alloy frames, forks and spokes and a rear carrier capacity rated to 100kg. Weighing in at 5kg (a complete bike is 24kg), the heft of the steel frame is not a hindrance but evidence of the bicycle’s strength.

The buffalo bicycle is gifted to children, specially young girls in Africa.
