Wines2Whales Are you up for a challenge just as we head into spring? Wines2Whales have introduced a new race experience the “Jeroboam” in which a team can complete all three events. As South African event organizers start offering new and innovative additions to the already popular events, mountain bikers have the opportunity to add more events to their “todolist”. The FNB Wines2Whales has always been a very popular event in the mountain biking community, the race founder Johan Kriegler and his team are continuously innovating and creating to offer a superb rider experience. The Jeroboam is the new edition to the stable on the 10th anniversary of this extremely popular stage race.
The FNB Wines2Whales allows riders to zigzag through some of the most well known wineries in the Western Cape, as riders race through vineyards and then battle up into the gorges that pepper the mountainsides offering exquisite panoramic views. The wineries that partner with the Wines2Whales offer scenic spectator points, water points for the riders, Lourensford, Vergelegen, Idiom, Oak Valley, Paul Cluver, Beaumont Wines, Wildekrans Estate.
The producers of award winning wines in all categories of Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz, these estates offer a blend of riding experiences, offering different terrain, trails, vegetation and views on the daily stages. The rich heritage of the Western Cape wine industry threads through the rider experience and allows riders to experience parts of the country that are only open to the public at this special event.
