2019 UCI World Cup and World Championships calendar
Something old, something new for downhill in 2019
For 2019, the MTB World Cup extends to eight locations for the downhillers. This includes a new location in the United States, with the introduction of a round in Snowshoe, West Virginia, where the cross-country classes will also be racing. The XCO World Cup sticks to seven rounds for 2019 however. A couple of much loved old venues make a return in the shape of Maribor in Slovenia and France’s Les Gets. Maribor, which is a downhill only round, has the honour of kicking off the 2019 season.
The UCI MTB World Championships will take place in Mont-Sainte-Anne, but won’t be the season-ending race for either DH or XCO disciplines. The new World Cup round at Snowshoe in the United States will be the last race of the season, a week later.
Maribor, Slovenia
After a nine-year break Maribor returns to the MTB World Cup calendar for the opening downhill race of the season. The track, in the Pohorje mountains, is about 2.6km long with a host of natural features, fast sections, tight turns and tricky jumps.
