Balwin Properties joins Ride Joburg as Property Sponsor for 29th Edition

Johannesburg, South Africa – Ride Joburg is welcoming Balwin Properties as the property sponsor of its 29th edition, bringing together two brands with a shared connection to Johannesburg and a passion for creating vibrant, active communities.

On Sunday, 22 November 2026, thousands of cyclists will take to the streets of Johannesburg for Ride Joburg’s iconic 97km Road Race, starting at Kyalami Corner and finishing inside the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

The partnership will see Balwin developments become part of the Ride Joburg experience long before race day, with four developments hosting Train Joburg Outrides, two becoming convenient race-pack collection points and two hosting activations along the race route.

“Balwin is a national residential developer with a significant presence across Johannesburg and Tshwane, making it a strong partner for Ride Joburg,” says JP Nortje, Race Director of Ride Joburg. “Ride Joburg has always been about showing this city at its best. It is the people, the energy, the streets and the communities that make Johannesburg what it is. We want riders to experience that well beyond race day and having Balwin open their developments to our cycling community is exactly the spirit we want around the event.”

From neighbourhoods to the start line, the road to Ride Joburg 2026 will begin at The Blyde, Thaba Eco Village, Munyaka and The Reid. Here riders will be able to join the Train Joburg Outrides in the months leading up to the event. The free, fully supported group rides are open to riders of all fitness and experience levels, giving cyclists the opportunity to train together, explore new routes and build towards race day in a safe and supportive environment. Each ride is led by experienced ride captains and supported by the Faces team, with mechanical and route support, medics, sweep vehicles, SARZA and ThinkBike accompanying riders along the route. For riders preparing for the 97km challenge, the outrides are more than training, they are an opportunity to become part of the Ride Joburg community before race day arrives.

Making race-week collection easier, Balwin will also make race-week preparations more convenient with The Blyde in Pretoria East and Thaba-Eco Village in the south of Johannesburg as race-pack collection points. From Tuesday to Friday, riders will be able to collect their race packs from a location that works for them, with Saturday collection taking place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit as part of the Ride Joburg Partners Expo.

 “Ride Joburg gives Balwin a practical opportunity to support active living within our developments and the surrounding communities,” says Ryan Kalk, Managing Director of the Beyond Bricks Foundation and Head of Balwin Sport.
“We will open selected developments to riders for supported training events and race-pack collection, while also contributing to the experience along the route on race day. We look forward to welcoming cyclists from across Gauteng as they prepare for one of Johannesburg’s largest sporting events.”

Balwin joins the race-day experience, where the partnership will continue onto the course on race day, with Balwin hosting two activation points where riders and supporters can experience the brand. The first will be located outside Polofields on the R55, with a second activation outside The Whisken at Kyalami Corner. Balwin will also have a hospitality presence in the Ride Joburg race village at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, as well as a stand at the pre-event exhibition, where visitors can discover more about Balwin’s developments across Johannesburg and Pretoria.

For Ride Joburg, the partnership adds another dimension to an event that is about much more than the kilometres on the road.
