A circular-cum-return ride with various route options, around 30km Trailhead: Lindbergh Lodge
The exclusive Lindbergh Lodge is set on 5 000 hectares of archetypal African savannah and is often called the “Jewel of South Africa’s North West province”.
Mountain-biking is done along sandy jeep tracks and gravel roads, swooping among umbrella acacias and through the grassland plains of the North West savannah. You can expect to do some pushing along frequent stretches of soft sand but, with a bit of speed and practice, much of the riding is flat enough to allow you to stay in the saddle. Game-viewing is good, with regular sightings of kudu, giraffe, wildebeest and other plains animals. All predators and dangerous game have been removed from the reserve so you can relax and enjoy the ride.
The waterhole or hide is a perfect picnic spot, while the historical main complex offers stunning views across the main camp waterhole. A word of warning: acacia thorns are rife, so make sure you have liners in your tyres.
