Getting There:
Get yourself to Queenstown, which is a small town 186km North from East London along the N6. Now drive through the city centre untill you get to the Hexagon, or the really large traffic circle. Take the Zieler Street exit then turn right into Alexander Street or Queens Drive. Then take the first left which is Kingsway Avenue. Continue on this road untill it changes into Hangklip Road. Carry on on this road, which eventually turns into a gravel road which you stay on for 2km. Then the start of the race is on your right.
Route Description:
This 40km route is probably one of my favourite local routes! It has everything I really enjoy. It has rolling hills with lovely views over Queenstown and surrounds. It has a nice and challenging climb up the back of a propper mountain. Then it has a trully testing downhill down the side of a propper mountain. Most people walk down this trecherous section. But others will enjoy the thrill of the challenge to try riding down as far as they can. Then you are rewarded for your bravery with the sweetest single track that clears your mind of any residual pain the mountain might have caused. It is truly therapeutic!
All in all this is a great mountain bike race with impeccable organising!
