Sani Spoors

At the heart of Sani Spoors is fun on a bicycle. Thanks to the vision of a local Dairy Farming operation, Sani Spoors was able to secure a lease on some magnificent land in the Underberg area. Based 2.5km on the Drakensberg Gardens road, just outside Underberg, it is very easily accessible to tourists and locals alike.

Our vision is to have a system of incredible trails that will cater for all skill levels.

Inshitshi Spoor Trail
Distance: 3.3km
Markers : Yellow Arrows

An easy amble along the banks of the Umzimkulu River, suitable for novices and children. A number of bridges over farm fences to cross, walk over until you gain confidence. Speed and momentum gets you over the bridges. Go slow and you wobble at the apex, ouch!

Please note that certain, if not all, of the routes may be closed due to adverse weather conditions, particularly during the fire season, or during certain farming operations such as silage making or chemical spraying.

Umzimkulu Run
Distance: 7km
Markers : Blue Arrows

Shares the first kilometer and the last two kilometers of the Intshitshi Spoor. At the split of the two trails is the first dangerous bridge, (marked with three down arrows). Please walk down the bridge until you are comfortable with it. Mainly flat river bank riding with a few fast downhill sections before joining up with the Intshitshi Spoor and finishing at the Sani Spoor office.

Milk Run
Distance: 9,4km
Markers : Green Arrows

Milk Run is the access route into single track heaven. You gotta do it to get there. From the top of the Milk Run you can either proceed to Jackall Joll or continue on the Milk Run back to the start point. Long climbs and really nice pine forest single track with incredible Berg views.

Please note that this section of the trail will have traffic going in both directions. Ascending cyclists have right of way. Please be cautious and courteous.

Please note that certain, if not all, of the routes may be closed due to adverse weather conditions, particularly during the fire season, or during certain farming operations such as silage making or chemical spraying.

Heaven & Hell
Distance: 12km
Markers : Black Arrows

A technical loop that splits off from Jackall Joll. A fast descent through Pine forests back to the Milk Run.

Please note that certain, if not all, of the routes may be closed due to adverse weather conditions, particularly during the fire season, or during certain farming operations such as silage making or chemical spraying.

Jack and Jill
Distance: 13km
Markers : Red Arrows

More climbing from where you split off the Milk Run, but it will be worth it. Forestry roads take you to the highest point on the property, so from here you don’t ever have to pedal again (right) until you get back to the start. A number of technical and rocky sections with a fantastic downhill switchback section for the Gravity guys.

Tsango Trail
Distance: 19,2km
Markers : Lime Green Arrows

This trail follows the Umzimkulu Run for the first 5km before branching off and following the Umzimkulu and the tributary Umzimkulwana. After crossing the tar road (please be very cautious), the trail follows a higher contour with fast flowing rocky single-track.

Rinkhals Trail
Distance: 21,6km
Markers : Orange Arrows

Continues along the tar road for 1.5km from the Tsango split, before entering a wattle single track, emerging onto fantastic cliff-top trails and fun-filled downhill single track. Joins onto the Tsango trail at the Umzimkulwana bridge.
