After Friday’s Silver #XCC, Rens finished his strong 2025 European World Series performance with a victory in Val di Sole, Italy. Yesterday Round 5 of the UCI World Series Mountainbike XCO took place in Val di Sole, Italy. In a weekend full of excitement around the XCC and the XCO races, Rens Teunissen van
Manen showed his strength and winning mentality. After a second place in the XCC, last Friday, finishing just behind Finn Treudler (Switzerland), today Rens could show his strength and capacity to the rest of the world. Despite a crash in the last lap Rens could, he was the 2nd Dutch winner of the day after Puck Pieterse winning the XCO Elite Women.
Rens had very good performances in the 2025 UCI World Series so far, finishing second in XCO in Round 3 in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic already and showing his strength in Leogang, Austria where he just missed the podium with 4th place.
Rens Teunissen van Manen, Men U23 and winner of Round 5 XCO Val di Sole, Italy:
“I think it’s the short climbs and the short descents where you can go pretty fast. That suits
me really well. You have to keep it smooth and flowy around the whole track. I am really
happy.
I had a little crash in the last lap. Nothing really bad or any serious but I had to keep myself firm and steady after that. What happend today, a dream coming true, will take a while to sink in. Thanks to everyone behind me”.
Bart Brentjens, Team Director KMC Ridley Mountainbike Racing Team:
“Rens showed today what he is capable of. It did not come as a complete surprise to me.
Rens has been riding very well all year. It is great to see him win a WORLD CUP XCO for the
first time. The entire team rode very well; 7 riders in the top 10 this weekend with XCC and
XCO.
The Netherlands is doing very well in mountain biking at the moment. Tom Schellekens
came 8th today (MenU23) and in the Elite Women it was World Champion Puck Pieterse
who won both the XCC and the XCO, just like 2 weeks ago in Leogang.”
