Mountain bike racing in the Swiss Alps is as spectacular as it is brutal. Riders face endless climbs, fast technical descents, and breathtaking views that both inspire and punish. From 13–17 August 2025, the Epic Series’ fiercest competitors will contest the SPAR Swiss Epic: five days, 307 km, and nearly 10 000 metres of climbing, ending with the podium ceremony in Davos.
Men’s Race: Swiss Defenders vs. International Assault
In the UCI Men’s field, defending champions Lukas Flückiger and Gian Schmid (Bixs Performance) return to protect their title. Flückiger, a three-time Swiss Epic winner and 2020 Olympic silver medallist, remains a danger on any climb.
Buff Megamo’s Wout Alleman and Martin Stošek—winners at 4Islands and veterans of the Absa Cape Epic—will aim for victory, though Alleman admits the long climbs are a personal challenge. KTM Spada’s Samparisi brothers, Torpado Kenda FSA’s Fabian Rabensteiner and Casey South, and both Klimatiza Orbea squads add significant depth. Stutzmann and Porro lead Orbea’s effort, with Gesche and Martínez as potential co-leaders depending on how the race unfolds.
Swiss fans will also follow Bulls’ Urs Huber and Axel Roudil-Cortinat, plus the Giant Factory Offroad Racing team of Dario Lillo and Kevin Kuhn, who could surprise on their home terrain.
The Mountains Don’t Care Who You Are
Each stage will rise above 2,000 metres, taking riders over iconic passes like the Albulapass, Lej Alv, and Scaletta. The air is thin, the climbs are endless, and the descents demand total commitment. The Swiss Alps offer beauty in cruel doses — the kind that makes you gasp for breath whether from effort or awe.
In the SPAR Swiss Epic, you don’t just race your rivals; you race the mountains themselves. And the mountains are undefeated.
By the time the peloton rolls into Davos for the final podium, the victors will be more than winners — they’ll be survivors of one of the toughest, most spectacular battles in mountain biking.
Fans can follow every twist, climb, and crash via the SPAR Swiss Epic live broadcast on the Epic Series YouTube channel, with daily highlights also shared on Facebook and Instagram (@swiss_epic). Full event details are at epic-series.com/swissepic.
