Canyoncafē is more than a bike shop; it is a unique cycling experience. As the official regional Powerseller for Canyon Bicycles, Canyoncafē brings the German brand, through the canyoncafe.co.za online platform and its retail outlet in Stellenbosch, to South Africa. This outlet has become a hub for cycling in the Western Cape, and now Canyoncafē is expanding to Pretoria. Run by Hein Du Toit – the founder of Demacon Market Studies, a company which has been pivotal in supporting cycling and cyclists in Pretoria and beyond – Canyoncafē Pretoria will speed up the delivery process, provide world-class service to cyclists on all bike brands, and serve the Gauteng Canyon community in particular. The Pretoria outlet opened its doors for the first time on 28 February 2026, at 30 on 26th Street, Menlo Park in Pretoria.

“I’m excited to welcome Hein [du Toit] into the Canyoncafē family and for him to share his passion for cycling with the growing Canyon community in South Africa,” Canyoncafē founder Erik Kleinhans said. “I’ve known Hein for years, and he is an incredible supporter of local cycling. His company, Demacon, has an illustrious history of sponsoring professional teams, individual athletes – including Kim le Court – and cycling events. That passion, knowledge, and proven expertise from outside of the cycling industry will be a fantastic addition to the cyclist-first business we have been building since 2018.”

“As a rider of Canyon myself, it is a brand I know and trust, and the decision to partner with Erik [Kleinhans] was an easy one. They were looking to expand the Canyoncafē model into Gauteng, and I saw the opportunity to open a Pretoria outlet,” Du Toit explained. “Due to the fact that Canyon Bicycles land in Johannesburg first, before being shipped to Cape Town, this will actually speed up the delivery process for cyclists in the northern parts of the country. I know Erik has worked very hard at streamlining the Canyon Powerseller model for the South African market, and this is a logical step in that process.”

“As most avid cyclists will know, Canyon is a direct-to-consumer brand,” Kleinhans noted. “While that model works in Europe and North America, in countries like South Africa were import laws are complex, it is not a feasible model. The Canyon Powerseller system allows us to facilitate the purchase of a Canyon bicycle for you by legally importing your purchase within 10-14 working days and handling all the paperwork and administration. The price you see for a bike on the Canyoncafē website includes import duties, all import costs, and delivery to your door.”

“Even though our sales and support are mostly handled online and are available all over South Africa, what we’ve seen, though, is that lots of people like the bike shop interaction,” Kleinhans continued. “Many people who live near our Stellenbosch outlet opt to have our expert mechanic assemble their Canyon for them and then collect it from us. We also provide after-sales support, including warranty claims, repairs, and replacements of Canyon-specific parts. Canyoncafē Pretoria will now also provide those services to Gauteng-based cyclists, as well as riders in the surrounding provinces. Which makes life as a Gauteng Canyon owner much easier than it was before, when the Stellenbosch outlet was the only outlet in the country.”

Canyoncafē Pretoria opened on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The shop features a service centre where Canyon buyers can have their bicycles assembled, and owners of any bike brand can have their bikes serviced. The outlet is located at 30 on 26th Street, Menlo Park, in Pretoria, and will be open 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 08:30 to 12:00 on Saturdays. For more information and to browse the full range of Canyon Bicycles available in South Africa, visit www.canyoncafe.co.za or follow @canyoncafe_za on Instagram.
