Ready for the new season and happy to start ‘Mission Part 5’ towards the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 together!
We are welcoming Julian Schelb (Germany, DOB November 20, 1992) as our new strong
Elite rider, as a strong counterbalance to our Latvian rider Martins Blums (DOB October 17,
1995).
Bart Brentjens, Team Director of ‘KMC Ridley Mountainbike Racing Team’:
“We are very happy to welcome Julian to the Team. We are convinced Julian will make a
strong team together with Martins in the Elite Men races. Julian is a very professional and
experienced Elite rider. He has proven to reach the UCI World Series podiums and I’m
convinced, he will do that again the next years.
Last year Julian won Silver at the XCC and Bronze at the XCO, both at the European
Championships and he became 15th at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Martins is riding with our team already since 2018, and managed to fulfill his Olympic
dream: “to become the first Latvian Mountainbiker competing at the Olympic Games”.
We are looking forward to work with both riders the next season, and to start our first year
in our Team’s Mission Part 5, to win a medal in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
Both riders have the ability to fight for top performances, especially in the UCI World Series
and in important international races like championships.

They are driven and want to get the most out of themselves. I think they are both capable
of great results. The Team will support them as best as possible. Martins and Julian can be
encouraging factors for each other, for our Elite Women and for our younger riders.
We believe in this combination. Strengthen each other on all fronts, we think that is
important in the team”.

Julian Schelb, international Elite Men mountainbiker:
“I’m super happy to join KMC Ridley MTB Racing Team and be back in an Elite UCI Team.
Thanks to the past 8 years in a self-managed and self-built team with friends, I learnt a lot
about racing and myself.

Now I’m ready to focus 100% on the big races again in order to compete for the very top.
As well I like to have so many young talents in the team, because I believe this creates a
good exchange from which everyone can benefit”.

Martins Blums, international Elite Men mountainbiker:
“I’m happy to go in another season with KMC Ridley Mountainbike team. Last season I
reached one of my goals with the team, to earn a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Next season is already a step towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games, so I’m really motivated
and ready to work hard in 2025. I hope we can bring team some World Cup podiums
together with Julian”.
