Olifantspoort Farm has several route options along farm utility roads out onto the public dirt roads in the area or a bit of freeriding
As the terrain is rocky, thorny and demanding, this is not the ideal venue to bring a fledgling mountain biker. The bush dies down in winter so, if you can bear the cold, this is a much better time to arrange a cycling weekend at Olifantspoort – you can see better and the tracks are not clogged with thriving, dense plant matter. The core business of this farm is a cattle breeding programme, so please close all gates behind you.
On the opposite side of the R24, there are an infinite number of hardpack and slate dirt roads which can be ridden. Start exploring from just after the Hex River bridge, following the Hex River and then the Sart River, before popping out 32 km later on the R24 opposite the R560 Hekpoort Road. For an epic 100 km ride, why not then turn right onto the R24 to Maanhaarrand and ride over Breedtsnek? (see Breedtsnek Road Route on this site)
