Moreleta Kloof

Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve is a small wooded ravine (kloof) nature reserve embedded in the Moreleta Park residential suburb of east Pretoria — a forested stream corridor with a waterfall, stream crossings and 5km of easy singletrack that provides the most charming beginner and family trail experience in the greater Pretoria area. The reserve’s scale is intimate — this is not a destination for riders seeking distance or technical challenge, but for families wanting an accessible outdoor experience with genuine natural character within 20 minutes of the Pretoria CBD.

The Trail

The Moreleta Kloof trail follows the stream through the wooded ravine on compacted forest path — stream crossings are a feature of the lower sections (rideable at normal water levels, requiring a walk-through in wet season when water is higher), and the waterfall near the head of the kloof provides a natural destination and rest point on the route. The forest canopy provides welcome shade in summer, making this one of the more comfortable warm-weather trail options in Pretoria. The technical demands are minimal — a few rocky path sections near the stream banks, one modest climb to the upper kloof, and the stream crossings are the only features requiring any bike handling awareness.
