Shongweni Resource Reserve Trail
Shongweni Resource Reserve is one of the most accessible wildlife reserves from Durban — a KZN Wildlife managed bushveld reserve 35km from the city centre with white rhino, nyala, zebra and a variety of plains game on rolling hinterland terrain. The 18km singletrack loop is a genuinely rewarding trail experience with regular wildlife encounters close to the city.
What to Expect
Singletrack and gravel tracks on moderately rolling indigenous bush terrain. Wildlife is the key feature — white rhino are resident and regularly encountered on the trail. Ride at a respectful pace and give all animals the right of way. The indigenous thornbush setting is characteristic of the KZN coastal hinterland and the birdlife is rich throughout.
