Howick Highlander

Howick is the gateway to the KZN midlands — a town set dramatically on the edge of the Howick Falls where the Umgeni River drops 95m into a spectacular gorge. The 45km Highlander loop uses this dramatic starting point to explore the gravel roads and singletrack of the surrounding midlands highlands through the Karkloof area on a demanding advanced route.

What to Expect

Gravel roads and singletrack on moderately to strongly hilly KZN midlands terrain. The midlands highlands landscape — rolling green hills, wattle and pine plantations, dairy farms and patches of indigenous bush — creates a riding environment that is both beautiful and physically demanding. The Howick Falls is accessible as a start and finish point, adding a spectacular natural landmark to the beginning and end of the ride.
