Saasveld Singletrack 10km

Saasveld is a local riding area in the midlands between Howick and Pietermaritzburg — an informal but popular singletrack network through indigenous bush on the rolling midlands terrain west of Howick. The 10km loop is a go-to weekday riding spot for KZN midlands riders who want a quick indigenous bush fix without the drive to the dedicated trail venues.

What to Expect

Singletrack on moderately rolling terrain through indigenous KZN thornbush. The trail conditions are variable and the network is informal — download GPX from Trailforks before visiting. Wildlife including bushbuck and vervet monkey are regularly sighted. The proximity to Howick and Pietermaritzburg makes this an ideal after-work ride.
