World’s View Lookout Loop

World’s View is Pietermaritzburg’s most celebrated viewpoint — a hill above the city where the panoramic view across the KZN midlands, the city below and the Drakensberg escarpment on the western horizon has been inspiring visitors since the colonial era. The 15km loop climbs to the viewpoint on singletrack and gravel paths for a rewarding intermediate ride with an exceptional summit payoff.

What to Expect

Singletrack and gravel paths on moderately to strongly hilly terrain climbing to the World’s View summit. The climb is sustained but the reward — a 360-degree view across the KZN midlands that genuinely justifies the name — is proportional to the effort. On clear days the Drakensberg escarpment, Durban’s coast and the rolling green hills of the entire midlands are visible simultaneously.
