Underberg Gravel Loop

Underberg is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s finest gravel riding bases — a small town at the foot of the southern Drakensberg with access to some of the most beautiful gravel road terrain in the province. The 40km Gravel Loop explores the farm roads through the foothills surrounding the town with the escarpment wall as a constant dramatic backdrop.

What to Expect

Gravel farm roads on gently rolling to moderately hilly southern Drakensberg foothills terrain. The southern Drakensberg scenery — a pastoral landscape of rolling green hills, mountain streams and the high escarpment wall — is consistently beautiful. The area around Underberg has excellent rural gravel road networks suitable for extended route-finding and exploration beyond the standard loop.
