Cascades Black Route

Cascades Black Route is the expert-level trail at the Cascades MTB Park — 18km of highly technical singletrack that represents the top end of difficulty in the Pietermaritzburg area. Rocky technical sections, advanced descents and trail features that demand expert bike-handling make this the destination route for KZN’s most skilled mountain bikers.

What to Expect

Highly technical singletrack with rocky features, advanced descents and challenging terrain throughout. Not appropriate for intermediate riders — black grading is genuine here. The technical nature of the terrain makes conditions critical: avoid riding in wet conditions when the rocky sections become dangerously slippery.
