Big Red Barn Black Route
The Big Red Barn Black Route is the advanced option in the Big Red Barn trail network south of Centurion. This 15km loop steps up significantly from the venue’s green and blue trails — with demanding singletrack through open grasslands, indigenous forest patches along the Kaal River, and rocky technical features that require solid bike-handling skills.
What to Expect
The route follows the Kaal River valley, climbing out of the valley and descending back via technical rocky lines. Off-camber traverses, tight forest singletrack and drop sections make this a genuine advanced challenge. The trail is well-maintained and regularly ridden by Pretoria and Centurion’s stronger cycling clubs.
Getting There
From Centurion take the R55 south toward Muldersdrift. Look for Big Red Barn signage on the R55. GPS: -25.8334, 28.0987.
