Odendaalsrus Plains Ride
Odendaalsrus is a goldfields town in the heart of the Lejweleputswa District — a planned mining settlement built in the 1950s gold rush era surrounded by the flat Highveld plains of central Free State. The 30km Plains Ride follows gravel roads through this landscape on a flat, accessible route suitable for riders of most abilities.
What to Expect
Entirely flat to very gently rolling terrain on gravel roads through open plains. The goldfields landscape has a distinctive character — mine dumps in the distance, the vast flat horizon and the particular quality of the Highveld sky above the plains. Wind can be a significant factor — plan your direction carefully if conditions are gusty.
