Groenkloof Yellow Route
The Groenkloof Yellow Route is the headline trail in South Africa’s oldest proclaimed nature reserve — a 15km intermediate loop through rocky koppies that delivers sweeping Pretoria views before a satisfying descent through wooded terrain. It’s the go-to quick ride for cyclists living in Pretoria’s southern suburbs.
What to Expect
Rocky jeep track alternates with singletrack in a loop that tests climbing fitness more than pure technical skill. The rocky upper sections require care when wet, but the trail is well within reach of most intermediate riders. Historical sites along the route — including Anglo-Boer War remnants — add interest beyond the riding.
Getting There
Access from Koch Street, Muckleneuk, Pretoria south. GPS: -25.7923, 28.1923.
