Alfred Nzo 20km Forest Ride

The Alfred Nzo District occupies the highest and most remote corner of the Eastern Cape — a mountain landscape bordering Lesotho where afromontane forests, highland grasslands and the Drakensberg escarpment create riding conditions of exceptional natural quality. The 20km Forest Ride threads through indigenous forest tracks and gravel roads in this largely undiscovered territory.

What to Expect

Forest tracks and gravel roads on rolling to moderately hilly mountain terrain. The indigenous forest sections are the highlight — dense afromontane forest with tall yellowwoods, tree ferns and a rich understorey that creates an enclosed, atmospheric riding environment. Views of the Drakensberg escarpment appear on the open grassland sections above the forest line.
