Baviaanskloof 7km Farm Trail

The Baviaanskloof is one of South Africa’s most dramatic natural landscapes — a 200km wilderness corridor through the Kouga and Baviaanskloof Mountains that forms part of the Cape Floristic Region UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 7km Farm Trail is the easiest introduction to mountain biking in this extraordinary environment — a farm track loop through indigenous fynbos and riverine vegetation with the Baviaanskloof mountains towering above.

What to Expect

Easy farm track on flat to gently rolling terrain through the river valley floor. The technical demands are minimal but the setting is extraordinary — sheer mountain walls, crystal-clear mountain streams and fynbos-covered slopes create a visual backdrop that rivals any trail in the Eastern Cape. Wildlife includes baboon, klipspringer, grey rhebok and a remarkable diversity of birds.

The Baviaanskloof is a UNESCO World Heritage component area. The scale and biodiversity of the wilderness corridor — over 1,000 plant species and more than 300 bird species — make this one of the most ecologically significant areas in South Africa.
