Uitenhage Gravel Grind

Uitenhage sits at the head of the Sunday’s River Valley — one of the most productive agricultural valleys in South Africa where citrus orchards, vegetable farms and the characteristic dry Valley Bushveld vegetation create a distinctive riding landscape. The 35km Gravel Grind follows farm roads through this fertile valley terrain between Uitenhage and the Addo area.

What to Expect

Gravel farm roads on flat to gently rolling Sunday’s River Valley terrain. Citrus orchards in blossom (July–September) create a fragrant, visually appealing riding environment. The characteristic spekboom thicket of the Valley Bushveld appears on the hillsides above the irrigated valley floor, and kudu and other game from the Addo area occasionally venture into the valley.
