Sterkspruit Valley Loop

Sterkspruit is a border town in the Joe Gqabi District near the Lesotho border — a highland settlement on the Telle River surrounded by mountain terrain that straddles the boundary between the Eastern Cape and the Lesotho highlands. The 25km Valley Loop follows the Telle River valley on gravel roads through this remote high-altitude landscape.

What to Expect

Gravel roads and mountain tracks on rolling to hilly river valley terrain. The Telle River valley provides scenic variety — river crossings, riparian vegetation and the open highland grassland above the valley floor. Views toward the Lesotho highlands are prominent throughout and the remote, unhurried character of the Joe Gqabi hinterland creates a genuinely peaceful riding atmosphere.
