Port Elizabeth Boardwalk Trail

The Port Elizabeth Boardwalk is one of the Eastern Cape’s most recognisable landmarks — a casino and entertainment complex on the Humewood beachfront that anchors the city’s coastal leisure strip. The 10km Boardwalk Trail follows the coastal promenade from the Boardwalk complex along the city’s finest beaches, with consistent Algoa Bay views and easy beach access throughout.

What to Expect

Paved boardwalk and coastal paths on entirely flat terrain along the Algoa Bay beachfront. Easy and accessible — suitable for all ages and abilities. The beach environment is the draw: Humewood, Hobie and King’s Beach are all accessible directly from the path. Surfers, kite boarders and the warm Algoa Bay water make the coastal atmosphere particularly lively on weekends.

Algoa Bay’s Wildlife

Algoa Bay hosts a remarkable concentration of marine wildlife — African penguins on St Croix Island, Cape gannets on Bird Island, and bottlenose dolphins that frequently ride the bow waves of vessels in the bay. A pair of binoculars adds a wildlife dimension to any beachfront ride.
