Hogsback Green Madonna Route
The Green Madonna Route is Hogsback’s most accessible mountain bike trail — an easy 8km forest loop that leads to the Madonna and Child waterfall, one of the Eastern Cape’s most photographed natural features. A graceful double waterfall dropping through indigenous forest, the Madonna and Child is the centrepiece of this gentle but beautiful riding route.
What to Expect
Easy forest tracks and gravel paths through indigenous Amatola forest to the waterfall and back. The terrain is gentle with minimal technical demands — this is the Hogsback route for families, beginners and riders who want a scenic forest experience without challenging trail conditions. The waterfall itself is worth the ride regardless of ability level.
Getting There
Hogsback via Alice on the R345. GPS: -32.5923, 26.9256.
