Misty Mountain Red Route
The Misty Mountain Red Route is the most technically demanding trail at the reserve — a 25km advanced loop with extended climbing, technical rocky sections and the full challenge of the Ibika plateau’s fynbos and forest terrain. This is the route for experienced riders who want to properly test themselves in one of the Eastern Cape’s finest private riding environments.
What to Expect
Technical fynbos singletrack with rocky sections and sustained climbing on the more demanding plateau terrain. The views from the upper sections are the best on the reserve — expansive ocean panoramas on clear days. Technical skills and fitness are both required for the red route’s demanding sections.
Getting There
Misty Mountain Reserve on the R102 near Thornhill. GPS: -33.8823, 25.3834.
