Gqeberha Coastal Path

Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) has one of South Africa’s finest urban beachfront promenades — a long, flat coastal path along Algoa Bay linking the city’s famous beaches from Humewood and King’s Beach to Summerstrand and Hobie Beach. The 18km Coastal Path is an easy, enjoyable ride suitable for all abilities with consistently beautiful Indian Ocean views.

What to Expect

Paved coastal path and boardwalk sections on entirely flat terrain along the Algoa Bay beachfront. The Indian Ocean views are consistent throughout and the beach atmosphere — swimmers, beach volleyball, surfers and the warm Algoa Bay water — creates a distinctly Eastern Cape riding experience. Shared with pedestrians and joggers — ride considerately on busy sections.

Algoa Bay

Algoa Bay is one of South Africa’s most important marine environments — a bay that hosts South Africa’s largest breeding colony of African penguins on St Croix Island, and is a regular hunting ground for bottlenose dolphins and humpback whales (June–November). The coastal path offers regular marine wildlife sightings.
