Storms River 22km Coastal Route

Tsitsikamma National Park protects one of South Africa’s most dramatic coastal environments — the stretch of Indian Ocean coastline where the Storms River meets the sea through a spectacular gorge flanked by towering cliffs. The 22km Coastal Route follows singletrack through coastal fynbos and indigenous forest above this dramatic coastline with consistent ocean views.

What to Expect

Singletrack and forest tracks on moderately rolling coastal terrain above the Tsitsikamma cliffs. The vegetation is Afrotemperate forest and coastal fynbos — dense, varied and botanically rich. The coastline visible below the trail is one of South Africa’s most dramatic: sheer cliffs, blowholes and the deep blue Indian Ocean. Wildlife including caracal, Cape clawless otter and various forest birds inhabit the coastal forest.
