Upper Mpushini to Ashburton
The Upper Mpushini to Ashburton route is a well-established local riding route west of Pietermaritzburg — a 25km combination of gravel roads and singletrack through the green valleys and farm country that borders the city’s western edge. Popular with Pietermaritzburg’s large and active riding community, this route offers quality midlands riding without leaving the immediate city surrounds.
What to Expect
Gravel roads and singletrack on gently rolling to moderately hilly midlands farming terrain. Green KZN midlands valley scenery — the characteristic rolling green hills, wattle trees and dairy farms — throughout. The route connects two suburbs via the valley system with enough natural character and distance to feel like a proper riding session.
