Valley of 1000 Hills Loop
The Valley of a Thousand Hills is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most iconic landscapes — a dramatic system of valleys and ridges west of Durban where the uMgeni River and its tributaries have carved an extraordinary topography of green hills, deep valleys and rocky ridges. The 35km advanced loop explores the valley system on singletrack and gravel roads with consistent valley views.
What to Expect
Singletrack and gravel roads on advanced terrain with significant elevation change through the valley system. The valley topography creates a riding environment of constant visual drama — deep green valleys below, ridgeline views across to Durban and the coast. Traditional Zulu homesteads on the valley slopes add cultural richness. The elevation change is real — the thousand hills are genuinely hilly.
