Thabaphaswa Red Route
The Aloe Loop is Thabaphaswa’s most technically demanding short trail — Tim Fair’s design follows the Thabaphaswa Loop before climbing partway up the mountain to a lookout point and then descending through a valley on rough, technical terrain before linking back to the Thabaphaswa trail. The venue explicitly describes it as ‘aimed at more advanced MTB riders — rough and a lot more technical to ride.’
What to Expect
Jeep track, singletrack and rocky climb on advanced terrain with significant elevation gain to the lookout. The rocky descent sections require genuine technical skill and confidence. The lookout views — across the valley and toward the farm’s distinctive granite boulder landscape — are the visual reward for the climbing effort.
Getting There
Thabaphaswa Mountain Sanctuary, 15km from Mokopane. GPS: -24.0889, 28.9823.
