Zeerust 20km Scenic

Zeerust is North West Province’s main border town on the R49 to Botswana — a gateway community with the Kopfontein border post to Gaborone as its primary function and the beautiful Sephton’s Nek pass (named for gold prospector Thomas Sephton who arrived in the district in 1860) on the R49 route as a scenic feature. The town sits at the junction of the Highveld transition and the Marico Bushveld, with access to the Groot Marico valley and the Marico River immediately to the east. The 20km Scenic ride explores the valley terrain on gravel roads and farm tracks.

What to Expect

Gravel roads and farm tracks on moderately rolling transitional bushveld terrain. The Marico Bushveld character of the Zeerust valley — kameeldoring acacias, witgat trees and the clear-flowing Marico River — creates a beautiful riding environment in the foothills east of the Botswana border. The Sephton’s Nek pass road adds topographic interest to the route’s northern sections.
