Blyde River Canyon 15km Loop
The Blyde River Canyon straddles the Limpopo-Mpumalanga boundary, and the northern section accessed from the Limpopo side offers a different perspective on this world-class canyon — looking south across the Three Rondavels basin and into the canyon’s deepest sections from above. The 15km loop follows gravel reserve tracks on the northern rim with consistent canyon views.
What to Expect
Gravel reserve tracks on moderately rolling canyon rim terrain. The northern rim perspective delivers excellent views of the Three Rondavels formation and the canyon system extending south. Wildlife including klipspringer and the canyon’s diverse raptor population are present. The subtropical vegetation on the Limpopo side of the canyon is slightly drier than the Mpumalanga sections.
Getting There
Access from Hoedspruit via the R527. GPS: -24.3456, 30.8734.
