Cullinan Diamond Rush MTB
The Cullinan Diamond Rush route is a demanding 30km loop near the town of Cullinan, famous for the Premier Mine that has produced some of the world’s most significant diamonds. The riding is equally uncompromising — 1,290m of elevation gain across rocky gravel climbs and technical descents that have earned this a reputation as one of eastern Gauteng’s benchmark advanced rides.
What to Expect
The route takes in the koppies and ridgelines east of Pretoria with sustained rocky climbs and fast technical descents. Loose gravel on the climbs and technical rocky sections on the descents require both fitness and bike-handling experience. Sweeping Highveld views from the high points reward the effort.
Race Events
The Diamond Rush is periodically run as a formal MTB event — check the Gauteng cycling calendar for race dates. The course doubles as a popular self-guided training loop for strong riders in the Pretoria and East Rand areas.
Getting There
From Pretoria take the R513 east toward Cullinan. Trailheads accessible from the Cullinan area. GPS reference: -25.6734, 28.5289.
