Dinokeng Savanna Trail
The Dinokeng Savanna Trail is the dedicated 20km mountain bike route in Dinokeng Game Reserve — a gravel and dirt track loop through open savanna that takes riders deep into the reserve’s wildlife habitat. Kudu, zebra and wildebeest are regularly encountered, and the open Highveld bushveld scenery is at its best in the dry winter months.
What to Expect
The trail is intermediate in effort — not technically demanding, but the distance, summer heat and wildlife environment add real substance to the ride. Gravel paths are well-defined and the route is clearly marked within the reserve. Carry plenty of water — there are no resupply points on trail.
Getting There
Take the N1 north from Pretoria, exit toward Hammanskraal and follow the R513 to Dinokeng. Confirm trail access with the reserve before visiting. GPS: -25.3912, 28.3456.
