Elands River Valley Ride

The Elands River Valley runs through the rugged country between the Baviaanskloof and the Kouga Mountains — a remote Eastern Cape river valley where spekboom thicket, rocky gorges and the river create a landscape of exceptional natural quality. The 30km gravel ride follows the valley on farm roads and gravel tracks with the characteristic rocky mountain walls of the Eastern Cape interior visible throughout.

What to Expect

Gravel roads and farm tracks on flat to moderately hilly river valley terrain. The spekboom thicket that characterises this part of the Eastern Cape creates dense, impenetrable bush on either side of the valley road — game including kudu, bushbuck and vervet monkey are frequently encountered. River crossings add interest but require care after rain.
