Nelshoogte Forest Loop
Nelshoogte Pass connects the Lowveld around Nelspruit with the Escarpment forest zone near Sabie — a scenic pass through dense plantation and indigenous forest on the Escarpment’s lower slopes. The 22km Forest Loop uses the forest tracks and singletrack on the pass terrain on a moderately technical intermediate route through some of the lushest forest in Mpumalanga.
What to Expect
Forest tracks and singletrack on moderately rolling to hilly pass terrain through plantation and indigenous forest. The lush forest setting creates enclosed, atmospheric riding conditions with the characteristic sound of forest birds and streams throughout. The Lowveld views from the open sections above the forest are expansive.
Getting There
Access from the R537 on the Nelshoogte Pass between Nelspruit and Sabie. GPS: -25.4456, 30.6812.
