Midmar Dam Trail

Midmar Dam is one of the KZN midlands’ most popular outdoor destinations — a large dam resort managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife near Howick with swimming, boating, camping and game viewing in a picturesque midlands setting. The 22km shoreline loop follows gravel and dirt tracks around the dam with consistent water views and regular wildlife sightings.

What to Expect

Gravel and dirt tracks on gently rolling to moderately hilly dam shoreline terrain. Nyala, impala, warthog and a rich variety of waterbirds are resident in the reserve. The dam provides constant water views and the rolling midlands hills on the opposite shore create a pleasant, pastoral riding backdrop. Popular venue — can be busy on weekends and public holidays.
