Soutpansberg 4km Family Ride
Hangklip State Forest above Louis Trichardt is part of the Soutpansberg mountain range’s remarkable forest ecosystem — one of the most biodiverse in South Africa, with the mountain’s north-facing slope receiving rainfall from Indian Ocean moisture and supporting dense indigenous forest. The Soutpansberg forests have five marked MTB routes ranging from beginner to moderate, with the 4km Family Route the most accessible option for families with young riders.
What to Expect
Smooth forestry roads on flat to gently rolling indigenous forest terrain. The Soutpansberg indigenous forest creates an enclosed, atmospheric riding environment with tall trees, forest birds and the characteristic lush vegetation of the mountain’s high-rainfall forests. Picnic sites along the route provide rest stops for family groups.
