Lekgalameetse Waterfall Loop

Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve is one of Limpopo’s wildest and most biodiverse protected areas — a large wilderness reserve on the Tzaneen Escarpment protecting continuous indigenous forest, montane grassland and some of the province’s finest waterfall terrain. The 18km Waterfall Loop explores the reserve on forest tracks with access to the dramatic waterfalls that make Lekgalameetse a destination for hikers and MTB riders alike.

What to Expect

Forest tracks and reserve paths on moderately hilly terrain through indigenous Wolkberg forest. The waterfalls — fed by the Tzaneen Escarpment’s high rainfall — are the centrepiece rewards of the route. Samango monkey, forest birds including Narina trogon and a remarkable diversity of mountain plants create an exceptional natural environment. The reserve’s wild character means trails are informal — good navigation skills are useful.
